Regulation of Lobbying Act 2015
The purpose of the Regulation of Lobbying Act 2015 is to provide for a web-based Register of Lobbying to make information available to the public on the identity of those communicating with designated public officials on specific policy, legislative matters or prospective decisions. The Act also provides restrictions and conditions on the taking up of certain employments by certain designated officials for a specified period of time where a possible conflict of interest arises.
Section 6(4) of the Act requires that the Intellectual Property Office of Ireland (IPOI) publish a list showing the name, grade and brief details of the role or responsibilities of the “designated public official”.
The details are as follows:
Name:
James Kelly
Grade:
Controller (PO)
Role/Responsibility:
The Controller of the IPOI oversees the Intellectual Property Office of Ireland and carries out the statutory functions of the role in accordance with legislative requirements, mainly the granting of patents, the registration of trademarks and designs and the administration and maintenance of these industrial property rights. The Controller also has statutory functions concerned with the registration of copyright licensing bodies, references and applications relating to licensing schemes operated by those bodies and the resolution of disputes regarding royalty amounts arising mainly in the area of public performance of sound recordings.
